I have a 92' cutlass ciera, and it recently started making a rattling noise when i am not pushing on the accelerator, and is loudest when in full stop, brakes pushed or not. the sound is coming from the front passenger's side, and it sounds like there's something that fell off or is lose and is now being rattled around. it started literally out of nowhere...one day it was fine, the next day it was making this noise. does anyone know what it could be? i'd really appreciate any advise!

Re: cutlass ciera making rattling noise
A few of the likely culprits are a bad water pump, alternator, or maybe a faulty idler pulley. Pop the hood, start the car, then look at the belt and all pulleys. If any pulleys lean, squeek, or make other odd noises, the accessory it is attatched to is likely bad.

Re: cutlass ciera making rattling noise
My Ciera had the same rattling noise you described, turned out to be a aluminum guard by the rack and pinion. I just bent it out of the way
