jdm h22a1

ok i have a 4th gen lude with the h22a1 and it has like 136k miles on it so i have decided to replace the engine b4 tricking it out. i just wanted to know besides the 30 hp difference wat other differences are theree between the jdm version and the usdm model? will all the parts that fit the usdm model fit the jdm model just as well e.g. turbo kits or cams...?

and how easy is it to swap? or is it just a drop in??
thanks

Re: jdm h22a1

Well i have a 95 srv and i have to replace the motor aswell. Anyway im currently waiting for my jdm should be here soon, from what i've researched its only a 10 hp difference because of better compression. None of the sensors, exhaust manifold, distributor or any of the externals that come with the jdm can be used with your car. So basically strip it down to the head and block and drop it in and attach all the sensors and ecu from your original engine. everything should be fine but i'll have a little more info after it's all said and done.

Re: jdm h22a1

basically jdm has a slight bit higher compression which is why there is the 10hp difference but if you want to turbo the USDM h22 has a little lower compression so it might be a better platform to start...plus USDM is cheaper

Re: jdm h22a1

either way if u wanna turbo it u gonna have 2 do the block trust me. and u gotta do it all only thing u can save money on is eagle rods vs crower but i prefer crower and prob je pistons and a f22 crank if u want it 2 be a 2.45 instead of 2.2 but if u want turbo u can throw a gasket on it and watch it blow in a few months but fully building the block will be 3000. do that then work on the turbo. then the head. stick with stock cams but u need the backbone of the motor which is the built block. if u gonna go turbo just keep the usdm and make sure head is good or buy a doner block and build that as u get the money and get a head if u can. but when it comes 2 a h22 espically u get wat u pay 4. ps they do good with a 75 shot and as well ive seen a lude go mid-low 11s on the motor alone. decide wat u gonna do 1st

USDM isn't usually cheaper.
