Coolant problem?

I have a 00 with a 5.3L I pulled a trailer the other day and when disconnecting the trailer smelled coolant. Thought truck was overheating....gauge read ok...didn't smell anywhere except the left exhaust outlet. Have looked pretty funny several times since as I go and sniff at the exhaust, but haven't smelled it since.

Coolant level was slightly low...refilled and am watching the level.

Nothing funny looking in the oil on dipstick.

Any thoughts?

A couple places to look on these engines
Water pump gaskets
Head bolts and head gaskets

This is where I have seen coolant leaks on 00 trucks

That would be a miracle of biblical proportions.........especially since coolant doesn't run through the intake gaskets of the 5.3 engine.

There are 2 coolant hoses that go to the T/B but thats it.
