Re: 99 Abs

The ABS module is sensing tire lockup for some reason. Check to ensure you have proper sized tires of same tread and air pressure at all four corners.

also abs greif

My abs comes on just before a stop when I am turning right only. It only started recently and my tires and air pressure are all correct. I have had it in to be serviced and the sensors cleaned but with no luck.

I would say a bad sensor or sensor wire. Maybe it's due to loose wheel bearings that allow the tone ring to move relative to the sensor in an unintended way. A wiggle test of the wires for the front abs sensors should be done. Those wires stretch and compress when you turn.

99 4x4 ,same problem

My 99 Ranger 4x4 did the exact same thing.I was told it could be a dirty sensor. I tried to remove the sensor to clean it but it broke. Now my ABS light is on but the good news is that it doesn't do the pulsating anymore. The bad news is that a sensors are expensive!! I can live with the light on.

I have a wheel sensor that i got and don't need anymore...I went to replace the sensor and found that the brake pads were stuck causing the ABS action....got the old dremel out cleaned all the rust out and problem gone....I think i payed $60 bucks for it...

Re: 99 Abs

Thanks for the reply. The numbers on mine are
PWC 69 ABS2 147900 981124 2-4. What do you need ,if it's the same? The resistance should be between 0.38 and 0.48.
