$463

Speeding on I-80 Eastbound in California 93 in a 65...I a GMC Yukon. Was pacing another truck, we both got pulled over the douche in the other vehicle tried to say I was chasing him and pulled a weapon on him. The other driver also in a GMC tried to say he reached speeds of 110 in his STOCK truck. Cops searched my truck inside and out found a mag-light burried underneath some stuff in back and said I was clear but would have to stick around. First off both trucks are govern'd at 100 or 99 or something. Me and my 2 brothers get pulled out and searched at 0200 on the side of the freeway. 5min. back in my truck waiting we see the cops partner whip out his gun and pull-out the passenger cops throws the ticket at me and says you might wanna leave now...$463 for a BS story and the trouble I had to sit through...yes I understand I was in the wrong and should get a ticket but throughout that hassle he could have cut the ticket a little to help me out. That snowboarding trip cost me a lot more than I thought it was going to.

another case of cops being cops....they can do what they want because you can't tell them otherwise. Go to court and fight it, theres a good chance you'll get off w/ less than what you have.

WTF is your problem with cops? Its people like you that bitch and moan about how shitty cops are that are the first ones to call. If some one breaks into your house who do u call? If someone steals your car who do u call? If some one kills someone u love who do u call? Point being u need cops and granted their are their share of assholes out there, there are also ones who care about the people they serve and the criminals the arrest.

I'm not saying anything bad about the majority of cops....its just i am sick of being pulled over by them for no reason and having my car searched! I got pulled over for tint (50% which is legal) and then the cops look through my windows w/ flashlights trying to find god knows what. I'm just tired of being pulled over because i'm 18 and have a dark 2dr GSR. I just got pulled over again the night i wrote that rant. I'm sorry if i offended people, but i was pissed because it isn't the first time this has happened and it damn sure isn't the last!

It happened one other time and this really sticks out in my mind....i got pulled over because my license plate was dirty! It wasn't hardly even dusty, but i guess i looked suspicious and all. Like i said, i don't mean to stereotype all cops w/ my remarks its just that i'm not satisfied w/ the policework in my city.

This might change your outlook on me too..... i work w/ the cops about 4 times a year doing the alcohol checks at area bars because my ex girlfriend's dad is in charge of the community intervention thing. I'm not just a kid pissed at cops.....

Re: $463

I have a GMC sonoma and found out myself that they shut down at 98 mph. exact. but that sux sry to hear about ur ticket. I agree with you on the part about some cops being bad at thier job. I got arrested cuz sum kid tried to tackle me in school and i grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Sent me to juvy for the day and said at about 10pm i can go home now. Some cops are good cops but then thiers some that should be in the nazi gustopo (s/p)

Re: $463

My 02 s10 blazer will shut down anywhere from 95-over 100. I believe it has less to do with your actual speed and more to do with the rpm's at a certain speed. Peace-

This is very true to a point. Chevy don't rip into me for saying this either.... Cops are jerks for the most part. But I have found a few that have been very nice to me even though I just turned 19 and look like a punk(piercings and all). But like I've heard and said a millon times. If you dont want to be bothered by them dont do illegal stuff and always be nice to them when they come to your car. Trust me, it has helpped me many times.

Some cops get badge-happy. Some think that hassling goes with the job. Some are Barney Fife. And some are regular guys doing a hard and dangerous job. The irony is that all of them speed, and many of them got into the job so that they can speed with impunity.

That said, true. Be non-threatening, respectful, honest and fair, and shazaam, the cop is probably going to treat you the same way. If you've been stopped for speeding, and you have been speeding, then you've got what you've got coming to you. Be nice and maybe the cop will cut you a break. Or maybe not.

If you're going to speed, don't be stupid about it. Be alert. Try to move with traffic. Blend in. Eyes way down the highway. Watch your mirrors. Heck, it will even make a better driver out of you.

I'll save you the entire story, but I was pulled over for speeding once, and for only like 55 in a 45 and in traffic that was moving about 55 ("I pulled you out of the pack because I heard you lift." Or, because I was paying attention, I get busted). The deal was that I was going to have to go in to jail until someone could bail me out (I had left my driver's license in my motorcycle helmet because my leathers have no pockets and I was only riding my enduro to the dirt about a mile from home). So I knew it, he knew it, and because I was resigned to the fact--and because he didn't want me to have to call my mother-in-law--he let me go with a Merry Christmas.

On the other hand, I could tell you a story about a nasty VA state trooper who busted me while driving a rental truck on a charity gig that cost me a long weekend. But I won't... At least VA doesn't have reciprocity with PA.

Anyway, just be nice. Apologize, etc. Bitching and moaning won't help. Or you can bet indignant and snotty and have a you'll-show-him attitude... and it will cost you.

Re: $463

Thats not entirely correct. I didnt get into law enforcment to "speed" I got into because I love my job and protecting the people of my town. We dont all speed. Of course theres a couple of retards that think they are better than everyone but some arent like that. I for one am not like that. I usually dont break balls for some minor shit. But if they get cocky they'll walk away with a hefty fine.

i'm not sure, but i thought that 25 over the limit was reckless driving.
if so, he could have arrested you and impounded your vehicle.
he did let you off easy, by letting you drive home.
if he had a radar lock at 28 over and another cop there to verify it,
i don't think you have much of a chance of fighting it.
you will probably just have to pay the fine.
