92 Cutlass Supreme Convertible - Water in Trunk - Help!
Hi Everyone,
Over this past summer, I purchased a mint 1992 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible. The car was garaged up until the time I bought it. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, I can't stop water from getting into the trunk and now the car is starting to smell like mildew ect. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone experienced the same issue? The car is so nice and I hate to let this continue happening every time it rains. Any help would be very much appreciated. Best regards, Dana Cabral |

do you know exactly where the water is coming in from? is the rubber around the outside of the trunk still good?

many trunk leaks can be traced to the tail lights.

it is caused from ur back window.mine was doing it well before i bought it from my friend.after i had to replace the top and back glass,it all stopped and now no more water.it would lay in the cover behind the back seats and then run into the trunk.check it out u will be surprized to see that is the problem.
what motor does ur's have? |

I have a 94 that does the same thing - it leaks from the back window through the hole where the wire for the rear defroster comes through the top - it lays in the well behind the rear seat and leaks through the seams into the trunk. I have managed to keep the water in the trunk to a minimum by doing the following:
1) Lay a towel in the well behind the back seat - this will absorb all but the heaviest rainstorms then just throw the towel it in the washing machine 2) Armour All the top - this seems to make the water roll off the top fast enough to mimimize the water leaking - sounds stupid but it works 3) Pull the little plug in the trunk for the antenna - this way if you do get water in there it will drain out - otherwise your capet and pads will get too wet to ever really dry out. This seems to be a common problem with these cars. |
