Lightbulb 99 transmission upgrade

This is my first attempt at posting so bear with me please.

I have a 99 Rodeo 3.2 - 6 cylinder. It's been a great ride but I am now starting to notice transmission problems (165K miles) and it will need a rebuild soon.

I have just bought a 32' camper trailer which will be stored at a campsite at the beach and several times a year my wife and I will use it for a get away. I know the transmision in the vehicle is not adequate to pull the trailer from it's storage site to the setup site less than a mile away. When I get a rebuilt tranny, can I get a beefier one that will be adequate to pull the trailer on flat land less than a mile?

thanx, saltykayak

Nope, I think you are stuck with what you have.

What is the weight of the trailer? 32 feet is huge!

I would suggest to find a friend with a big diesel truck to tow it the 1 mile.

Thanx for the reply Ryan. I was afraid of that.

The camper is on the larger size but many 'campers' have larger and they are made for travel and are somewhat light weight. This one when the tanks are full of water weighs 11,000 lbs but empty and in moving weight, about 8,000 lbs.

Do you think that in 2nd gear, I could move this camper safely? Where the camper is stored is where it will be set up and thus not ever be out on the road, just in the park. Speed would never attain 5 to 7 mph.

thanx, lj
