Whinning noise come from rear of vehicle

I recently replaced the fuel tank and fuel pump on my 92 deville. I am now hearing a whinning noise coming from the fuel tank. It whines when ever the car is running. does this mean that my NEW fuel pump is defective? Or is there something else going on? Please help!!!!!

Re: Whinning noise come from rear of vehicle

A whinning noise ususally means the fuel pump.
I would take it to a few other mechanics for a free report on what the pnoise might be. After a few people tell you it sounds like the fuel pump you might not accept your mechanics claim that it is something else costing you more money. Did you ever show you the old fuel pump? There is also a chance if he did not put the new pump in right that you will start stalling around right turns like you are out of gas when your gas gauge says 6 gallons. I had a 1990 Fleetwood and had the stalling problem after the gas tank was replaced.

Good luck, Terry

A restricted fuel filter can cause this also, should have been changed with the pump.
