Sakatsu Aftermarket Parts Questions

Hi,

I'm currently looking for aftermarket parts for Ford Focus WRC 2002 and Subaru WRC 2001.

I've ordered SMS CF decals and SMS P/E sets for both... But I'm also looking for better bonnet pins, and antennas.

Sakatsu metal parts look stunning, but they seem like rocking horse shit to get hold of..

Racing Resin has them,

http://www.racingresin.com/products/...7_21_22_23.htm

Which ones are correct for the models above? Or should I just order a selection and see which ones look the best?

I see my old fav (Parts sent eight weeks after order..!!) grandprixmodels has them listed, could always try my luck..

I also ordered eduard 6 point seat belts.. Look easy enough to fit.. Many thanks....

Re: Sakatsu Aftermarket Parts Questions

I use Sakatsu antennae, mainly because they are the only ones I can get, I know Modelers make antenna sets, but I've yet to find somewhere with them in stock.
You have to actually look at reference photos and get the antenna sets which are closest to the ones in the photos.

For bonnet pins, for the Subaru, the ones on the SMS set are nice, of the Focus, try getting some of the Detail Master ones, they're really nice.
The only hood pins I've found I prefer to the SMS ones and DM ones, are the ones on Studio27 sets.

Media Mix are out of stock, and they have no way of making backorders..

Looking around on www.racingresins.com is painful.. Their website is so slow, but I sent them an email seeing if they will ship to the UK. They take paypal..

If not, grandprixmodels in the UK have them listed, but not in stock and I can make the order... Remember last time I ordered from them.. 7 weeks to get Honda parts, and I'm still waiting for the focus WRC SMS parts..

Stand more chance of winning the lottery then getting these kinda upgrades from them in any sort of decent time..

Oh well..

Racin Resin is closing down the business, but anyway they've still some items on stock. E mail them for a request.
I bought from them a kit two weeks ago without any troubles, paying with PayPal.

Re: Sakatsu Aftermarket Parts Questions

For the Subaru you will want a set of Sakatsu SAK3230 bonnet latches. Unfortunately, as you say, nobody seems to have them in stock at the moment. You could email Wong at MediaMix and ask him when he is expecting more.

For the Fosus, Renaissance make a nice set of latches that are a good match. MediaMix have them in stock, very fiddily to work with (if your anything like me you'll lose a couple of parts in the process), but look pretty good when done. I used them when I built my Escort last year.

Studio 27 also have some fairly decent Ford Latches on their 2002 PE set IIRC.

Typical… Another hobby shop for the model car builder bites the dust… I wouldn’t be at all surprised in 10 years from now we are all looking for a new hobby, as there will be no model car industry left..!!

I’ve emailed scaleracecars. See what they say, could always try my luck with grandprixmodels. I can place on back order and wait and see..

Or failing that, it’s back to making my own out of guitar strings again…

Just sent him an email.. If he can get them I'll order quite a few to stock up... This hobby is murder at times... I now know why you lot buy faster then you can build.. In fear of never getting the parts or kit again..

It's a bloody nightmare..!!

The last I checked with my distributor, it was hard to get AM bonnet pins and such in the Sakatsu lineup.

However, I have a Subaru Impreza WRX STi detail set from Tamiya (WRX 2004), but it mentions on the packaging that the brakes, meshes, and bonnet pins are compatible with the WRC 2001.

I'm using a set on the WRC 2001 which i'm modeling right now, and it looks pretty good!

If you're interested, you can pm me for details on how to reach my shop.

Happy modeling,
Vince

Oh OK then.. Me included.. But it's no wonder really... Media Mix replied to my email. He is getting more stock and will send me an email when he knows when they will be back in stock.

i've made an order with grandprixmodels as well.. TBH, the parts are not that much.. I ordered enough from grandprixmodels to build 4 rally cars with three antenna each... Loads of goodies, and it was only £20 odd..!! OK, expensive for how small the parts are, but not a huge amount of money.. I could spend that on a pizza..!! Since I've stopped buying kits of ebay and now only buying upgrades for the 50 odd kits I've got I seem to spend more time looking for instock suppliers then anything else... Grandprixmodels are bad with getting stuff quickly, but they are only antenna, I can build the cars and add these when they arrive in - ooh say three months..!!

It'll be OK..!! This hobby needs to get more mainstream... We need to get this hobby interesting to the mass market..!! Then I'll be able to get my goods easier..!! Huh, doubt that..!!

Al I want are some upgrades..... How hard does this have to be.. Well, at least not buying kits, and not being able to find suppliers with upgrades in stock is saving me money..!! He..

you can also buy direct from Etienne at Renaissance.

Doesn't get much quicker than that! And he's just at the other end of the chunnel

I have some of his stuff and IMO it is very good.

Shame he's not into 2CVs though LOL
