Unhappy What to do with this car

The car is a 1984 Buick Lesabre 4 door, its in fairly good condition with only 150 000 km on it. The paint is starting to look piss poor in spots but all around it still runs okay. I wanted something to do so i was looking for easy upgrades i could do myself becuae i dont wanna pay a mecanic and this will give me something to do. maybe just some simple stuff like cutting off the cattlytic converter, or some simple engine work to make the car sound better and give me a little more performance out of the 5.1 liter 307 oldmobile motor

just lookin for some help here
thanks

You have to leave the Catalytic Converter on, its the law. you might try makin your own exhaust, get a new muffler, and convertor, and some piping, and do it yourself. time consuming, yes, but your post reads as if you have a lot of time to yourself. Good luck and have fun!

Re: What to do with this car

depending upon what state you may live in emissions laws may be different. If you live in a state where they do not test the equipment but only see if its there than for about nothing you can punch through the catalytic converter and it will give you a little more power. but this is not something a reputable mechanic will likely do for you. also replacing the old catlytic converter with one that will allow greater flow could help if you live in a state where they test the equipment
