Factory spark plug Gap?
Hey, I just replaced my spark plugs with the equivalent Denso, standard plugs. After I was done and driving around for a while, I realized I didn't even pay attention to gapping. I just put them in as they were. Should I take them back out? If so, how do you "gap" them, by bending something? Im hoping they already had correct gaps. By the way this is a 98 EX.

Re: Factory spark plug Gap?
yes, you should take them back out and gap them... When I do it, I use a spark plug gapper that tells the measurements... a simple search yielded me this:
Engine Type Spark Plug(NGK) Gap D16Y5 ZFR4F-11 1.1 MM / 0.043" D16Y7 D16Y8 ZFR5F-11 1.1 MM / 0.043" B16A2 PFR6L-13 1.3 MM / 0.051" You have the d16y8, so you need to gap them to 1.1 mm or .043"... good luck! Oh, and don't forget to put some anti-seize compound on them so they're easy to get out when you need to take them out again.

Re: Factory spark plug Gap?
yeah, but you have to make sure it's measured right...

O I forgot to mention that when I bought them, they were specified for my car. So thats why I think they are already set. And they are Denso not NHK.

Re: Factory spark plug Gap?
if they are pre gapped for your car specifically, then, you dont need to gap it. if you bought a $.99 gap reader when you bought the spark plugs, that would of made things easier too.
not technical, a little common sense really.

95% of the time "pre-gapped" spark plugs are not gapped correctly. Always double check.
