Radio and climate control lighting issue

First off, thanks to everyone for all of the great tips. I fixed the dim HUD problem this past weekend and the posts were a big help.

While working on the HUD issue, I also installed a new bulb in my radio, which was dim to nonexistent. (At one point in time, the radio display would randomly be fine and then dim again.) Unfortunately, the bulb did not fix the problem. However, I noticed that the circuit board where the bulb sits had a small, black, almost burnt mark on it. Could there be a short in the display circuit board on the radio? If that's the culprit, is there an easy way to obtain one or will I have to get another radio?

Also, after reinstalling the radio, I noticed that the backlight on my dual climate control was much dimmer (it's working fine otherwise). Although I didn't touch that portion of the car (at least not intentionally), the coincidence seems too much and I am worried that I somehow affected it. Any thoughts on what might be amiss with both the radio and climate control? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

BTW I have a 2000 GTP with ~53k on it.

Greg
