yes, i know ive posted many a thread about my high idle, but ive just realized somthing, everytime my idle kicks up, its because i put in my clutch, weather im drive along and push it in to downshift, or as was the case today, i was sitting at a long light in neutral for a few min, idle was normal around 650, light turned green i pushed te clutch and up shot the idle to 1600!!!
so my question would be does this totally change the situation? it has to be clutch related or being affected but the clutch. anyways i cleaned out all my air stuff, check for vaccuum leak, recent tune up all that stuff, do you guys have any ideas now that i bring that fact up?? 2001 SL 5spd 1.9L SOHC thanks again for any help shaner |

Re: bad clutch = high idle???
what i said before about the PCM still stands, to confirm, with the engine off, key off, remove the PCM B fuse for 15 seconds. replace it and start the car. you may need to crank it two times before it starts, all memory, idle and fuel trim, and all the other stuff has been reset/erased. the idle should not bump up for the first few miles. if the bump up returns, and your clutch foot work is flawless(even mine still bumped up to 1200 with a near new clutch after i figured all this out), the this may be the frist sign of the PCM detecting a slipping clutch.
