97 altima ac stops working
Howdy:
With the car cold, and in idle ac runs ok for about 10 minutes. I checked Pressure with kit I bought at wally world and it seems to be within range. Then it just cuts out. But if I drive it the comp. will cycle but it won't stay on long enough to even get cool. ??????????????? HELP!!!!Please. |

Re: 97 altima ac stops working
If your A/C works and then quits, I guess it must be icing up the evaporator because there is too much freon in the system. Does the gauge show PSI or just normal range? What does the gauge read when you first start the engine and hold the RPM at 1500 for 60 seconds. Does the compressor stay on or kick out? Can you see frost forming on the accumulator or pipes under the hood? Does the air from the A/C vents blow strong while you are driving or feel like it is on a lower speed?

Re: Re: 97 altima ac stops working
Please Help!!!!!
I may have similar problem with my 2000 altima. My a/c works fine until engine gets hot. If I start a/c than, it goes on, but quits after 10-15 seconds. I also found that I can keep it working with rpm over 1000 as long as I shift to drive pos. Rpm get lower and a/c quits with it. Do you think it's just too much freon in system? |
