1998 BMW 328is - How do I change lower ball joint

My husband is in the process of changing the left lower outer ball joint. he has the old one off but cannot get the new one on -- any tips would greatly be appreciated.

it needes to be pressed in. you can beat it in with a hammer but this will take a very long time.

The ball joint needs to be pressed in with proper tools. Beating it in with a hammer will give the new ball joint the life expectency of about a month. It probabally wont rotate smoothly either
