a/f gauge

Somethign is going weird after my install of my A/F gauge.... i tapped into the wires gong into the ECU and the gauge spastically changes from lean to rich to stoic... it won't stay steady? what do you think? bad connection or bad car?

It's supposed to do that. Only at WOT will lit be a constant. Try going out and putting the pedal to the floor and it should read rich.

mine does that too,it's supposed to fluctuate as the computer tries to keep the mixture stoic.

did you solder the splice?
mine goes lean at idle when cold, then goes up to like half when warmed up,but fluctuate a bit,and at full throttle it stays where it is.
Btw,I connected mine on the sensor wire, just after the connector for the O2 sensor.

the ECU program uses the "law of averages" to create a stoich reading

i used a tap because i was afraid of generating too much heat on that sensor with a solder.

I unplugged mine when I solered it,tap sucks,it could be the only thing messing up your readings.I would lenghten the wire and splice it as close to the o2 sensor plug as possible(on the engine harness side).

I did mine in the engine bay, just before the sensor plug on the engine harness, but I guess at the ecu is good as it's the same wire
I'd still solder it though

one thing i've noticed is that the gauge reading even moves up and down, during idle. and sometime the light just goes out... WTF

it's normal,if you let off the gas and coast, the computer doesn't inject any gas,if you press back on the gas,the reading will show up.
also the computer monitors the ratio and change it all the time to try and stay as close as possible to stoic
