Camshaft Q
Hey guys
Maybe I'm just a dumbass that doesn't know how to use the search function properly, but again I've been looking for about a half hour and can't find my answer. What are the specs on the stock 3.4L camshaft? And, is there anything else I need aside from the camshaft replacement kit to replace the cam? Any other considerations to contemplate before digging into the job? Thanks in advance! |

Camshaft: Hydraulic Flat Tappet
Valve Lift: .427” I / .454” E Duration at .050” lift: 204° I / 216° E

Ok, I guess I'm going about this backwards. Haven't exactly diagnosed it yet, but there's a rattle in the engine bay at exactly 1900 rpm's. A buddy of mine thinks it might be the cam, so I was just looking at prices and what it would take to replace it with another stock cam and timing chain.

I dont see how it could be the cam. Its probably in your valvetrain somewhere or maybe your timing chain.

I'd try running some seafoam if I were you. My car used to do the same thing. But after I added Seafoam, the sound went away and she started to run smooth as a dime.

Well he did say the timing chain might have gotten loose. I was just going to do the both of them since either way I'd have to open her up.
BTW, I have run seafoam through it before, but since I don't think the guy that had it before me took very good care of it, I'm going to run it through again. Thanks for all the replies. |
