Camshaft Q

Hey guys
Maybe I'm just a dumbass that doesn't know how to use the search function properly, but again I've been looking for about a half hour and can't find my answer.
What are the specs on the stock 3.4L camshaft?
And, is there anything else I need aside from the camshaft replacement kit to replace the cam?
Any other considerations to contemplate before digging into the job?

Thanks in advance!

What exactly is it that you're wanting to do? Upgrade your cam? What kits are you looking at? If it doesnt come with the lifters, and pushrods, then you're going to need to get those as well. What's wrong with the one you have now? Or are you just wanting to upgrade?

Re: Camshaft Q

Ok, I guess I'm going about this backwards. Haven't exactly diagnosed it yet, but there's a rattle in the engine bay at exactly 1900 rpm's. A buddy of mine thinks it might be the cam, so I was just looking at prices and what it would take to replace it with another stock cam and timing chain.

Re: Camshaft Q

I dont see how it could be the cam. Its probably in your valvetrain somewhere or maybe your timing chain.

Re: Camshaft Q

I'd try running some seafoam if I were you. My car used to do the same thing. But after I added Seafoam, the sound went away and she started to run smooth as a dime.

Re: Camshaft Q

Well he did say the timing chain might have gotten loose. I was just going to do the both of them since either way I'd have to open her up.
BTW, I have run seafoam through it before, but since I don't think the guy that had it before me took very good care of it, I'm going to run it through again.
Thanks for all the replies.
