Ticket #2...
Yeah I'm 16 and a few days ago I got my second ticket. I live in St. Louis, MO.
My first ticket was back in february for 40 in a 25, I had a lawyer (family friend) help me out. He got it down so as long as I didn't get another ticket before I turned 18 it wouldn't go on my record I would just have to go to defensive driving school. A few days ago I got ticket #2, 77 in a 60. It was by a moving radar (undercover cop red car wtf, when did that happen?). So anyway, I don't have an option to just pay the ticket off for some reason I HAVE to go to court (which is no big deal I would anyway but I don't know why I couldn't just pay it). I am planning on having the same family friend whos a lawyer represent me and my court date is in december, if anyone has any idea on how this usually goes I would like to know. With what I know this is whats gonna happen: I might get the ticket pleaded down to something less severe, and pay the full cost of it ($150?). Or they will show no mercy because I'm 16 and this is my second ticket and make me pay the full cost (150?). If they do the second option, both tickets will hit my record, therefore my insurance will go up what 40%, 50%, 100%? If anyone has any estimates of whats going to happen I'd really like to know. I also like to know the reason I couldn't just pay the ticket (though I wouldn't anyway), is 17 over in a 60 THAT bad?

Re: Ticket #2...
17 over the limit is bad. You have to go to court because you're a minor. Don't know about Missouri, but that's the law in Ohio. They'll probably be hard on you because it's your second ticket in under a year and they're trying to make an impression. Hopefully it'll work this time. SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.

Re: Ticket #2...
Also if all the points do go on your record, and you get in trouble for anything again you lose your lic. I'm from Mo.

Re: Ticket #2...
When they don't put a ticket on your record (unless you get another one) and you get another one, it's likely that your license will be subjected to both tickets. I'd bet on a bad session with the judge on this one.
Let us know how it comes out....

I don't really mind getting yelled at by the judge all that much and I would expect them to try for all they can, (hell if I were them I would). Oh well, I screwed up and I deserve it, hopefully I get a little good luck and don't get all the points but I doubt it.

Re: Ticket #2...
Yeah it's a tough break, but it happens pretty often. Slow down if you can, your wallet will thank you, but we all have to learn somewhere. Do what you can to keep the points off. Have a parent go with you to court, dress nice, call everybody 'sir', 'your honor', 'officer', etc. Be polite, don't give BS excuses, be honest and apologetic. And take defensive driving or traffic school, whatever your state offers to get some points off your insurance.
