Just because the Gangsta Rappers don't buy 'em, doesn't mean they're PsOS.

death: I've always heard that NSXs are as reliable as any other Honda[Acura]. Just try to find one that's been well-cared-for.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing as Johnny, that long term they fit into the same realm of reliability as just about all Hondas (just not mine... ). Just keep in mind that a powerful sports car like an NSX probably has a greater chance for a history of abusive driving tendencies by previous owners. So keep the option open for getting your compression checked, and possibly doing some engine rebuilding in case compression is off in any of the cylinders.

Other than that, sounds like a winning idea (only $19K?? wow, where have I been?).

You’ll have to see if you can track down a Helms manual or similar information source for that data. However, while these are produced for more run of the mill cars, like Civics and Integras, you may be SOL with an exotic like the NSX.

Have a friend that owns a 93 NSX and just from talking to him I know that there are known problems with the transmission (weak links), other than that nothing major.
Depending on where you live there may be a NSX club near you that you can get info from. The NW NSX club here just had a Dyno fest (for the lack of a better name) where a local shop charges $100 an hour to use their dyno. My friends car has quite a few mods from the previous owner and came out as the top NA NSX at 297HP Not bad for a 93 that he paid $32K for. I have seen $19K NSX's at dealer's (some higher) that were in really bad conditions so I'd be cautious about one for $19K.

Overall a great car so I wish you luck in getting behind one of your own

FYI: If you do get one the first thing I recommend you upgrade is the headers and exhaust, those were the biggest changes done to my friends car and those that spent the money on new chips, NOS, etc. but kept the header and exhaust stock were sorely disapointed.

Honda says it's because the cars are hand built. That is some fine craftsmanship, you have to admit. But I certainly wouldn't mind the price coming down a bit.

JD, did you think I was Johnny?

NSX has been out on the market since 1991. That's 11 full years without major changes. It is getting a little outdated but it is not POS.

Exhuast tip changed. Power steering was added. Numerous color change. Tire size got increase in both front and rear. The differential change from torque control to torque reactive. Also added throttle by wire. The brake rotor were increase in size. Different exhuast manifold and improved brake cooling. Dual disk clutch and 6 speed tranmission. There is a lot more other stuff. But it is the same bodypanel and the same engine except bore out to 3.2L!

I think Johnny and I seemed quite similar when we were new. S'okay.

Of course, I stuck around.
