It looks like it's supposed to be a chip for the ECU, except this one is external. I like how they never actually say what it is, makes me real confident in buying one.

it prolly gives as much power as muffler bearing and halogen headlight fluid do.

ok, i just bought one of those last month, not the same name, but it looks just like it. I haven't installed it yet because it changes the fuel ratio, and I have an emission test next month
Let me quote what they put in the instructions, just so you know what you're dealing with. I'll just quote some steps: "Locate your Intake Air temp sensor" "snip both wires cmoing out of the back of the IAT plug" damn it, this shit is long. Well I hope you get the idea, it messes with the temp and your fuel system. U gotta snip a few cables, but they give you detailed instructions. I couldn't tell you if it works. OH yeah, and mine is called "G-Box Stage 1" |

You can find out more on how this "mod" works by going here: http://www.speedmodules.com You could get all the parts at Radio Shack for less than $5 (I know, I saw the exact same ABS plastic box there, it's called a small project enclosure). The only thing is knowing what value resistor to use for your application. All this "mod" does is trick your ECU into thinking that the intake air going to your engine is colder than it really is. Cold air is denser than hot air, so the ECU will advance the engine timing and give the engine more fuel (richer mix) to take advantage of the "extra" air your engine is supposedly getting. What you get is slightly more power and torque, but you'll be burning slightly more gas too. Oh yeah, the resistor that came in mine was totally wrong for my application. The car ran like cr@p after installing it, I had to go down to Radio Shack and get a much higher value resistor. Now the car runs fine with a little bit of extra power, and the decrease in gass mileage is so that I can live with it. If you have a multimeter, or ohm-meter, you can actually measure the resistance across your IAT sensor terminals (usually in the 1000 to 5000 ohm range). Mine was 3.77 kohms (3770 ohms). From there, you can try and calculate what resistor to use. |

I actually did something like that to my friends ZX2... I didn't know what I was doing for him, but he said it was supposed to make the ECU think the engine was still cold and run a richer mixture, or something like that... and I'm just thinking to myself "Ok... so you're car will be running rich... that's not exactly the best thing in the world to have as a mod"

exactly! alls it is is a couple wires attached to your ecu to make you run richer and not be able to pass emmisions! worthless scam

rich = less horsepower.
lean = more horsepower.. to a certain extent. you really want to run the car as lean as possible without it detonating. heres what the description should say: "install this worthless mod and use our sticker so everyone will know what a sucker you are! More fuel = more black smoke = worse fuel mileage! -20hp!"

The item is junk if you want extra ponies you can get a ECU on ebay for $20 + shipping and you will get 5hp or if your car has some big MODS you can get up to 10hp they however claim 5-20hp from a chip that is also B.S i have ran many different maps on a dyno. The best one so far was the Mugen chip. I have made some of my own programs and burned them to a chip but they are still in the testing phase. I'm working on one to help JDM motors pass smog
Then you can swap it back to the performance MAP. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2437167087 Peace Bro |
