63 nova starter problem
I have a 63 nova ss that I just installed a 67 327/275 hp motor and rebuilt the original powerglide transmission. I have power to the ignition and power going out through the purple wire but I lose power by the time the puprle wire comes out of the dash. I have followed the wire up into the dash but loose the wire in the factory wiring bundle that is taped at the factory and I don't want to cut into that harness to trace the wire. Does the power go thru the instrument cluster and continue on? Wiring is my week point please help asap. By the way I can start the car with a remote starter switch but not with the key and the starter, alternater, voltage regulator and after market guages are new or rebuilt.

Found the problem myself. The purple wire travels from the ignition thru the maze of wiring harness to the neutral safty switch, but is connected by a plug outside the firewall that was corroded at the connection. The tricky thing is that I had no power inside the vehicle, the purple wire was dead at some point after the ignition, so how could the problem be outside in the engine compartment. The neutral safty switch has its own wiring harness that is seperate and brings the power back into the dash when the ignition is turned to the start position. During the time the engine and trans were out the connection must have got wet and corroded.
