This weekend's work / A/C delete?

THis weekend my plans are:

Seafoam
Oil/filter (gtx high milage, fram filter)
Plugs (NGK TR55)/wires (Taylor 8mm)
PCV
Fuel Filter
And maybe drain tranny fluid.replace filter, but I think that'll wait a little.

Other thing is, I decided since I only use a/c 1-3 times a year, it's time for it to go. Can shed some front end weight, a tad bit of pulley drag (no noticable amount), and have more room to work in the engine bay.

I'll post pics

Fram.. eww. C'mon man, go with something a little more "top of the line." Let us know how it goes, I've been pondering doing the a/c delete as well. Just kind of been debating it because when it rains my windows fog like crazy w/o the defroster(since it uses the a/c).

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

see my defroster only works well using heat, idk if i'm wierd or what

Yea it's illegal but come on my dad used to (1950s till like, 95 or 99) dump his used car oil in the sewer lol. There is no way they will catch me either, or would know what I was doing lol.

http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...ead.php?t=8901 there's a little bit of it... I doubt I will pay that 30 tho because then it's not a free mod, is it then again my dad has been flippign otu every time i say im gonan do !a/c, maybe if I do it environmentally safely he'll be a tad less opposing of it lol. oh well who cares

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

also if anyone finds 4.10 gears for cheap let me know... a friend guinea pigged it and the gas milage, cruising RPMs, and street friendlyness is nowhere near what people expected, they were barely affected.

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

I may have some 4.11's for you in the future. I plan to go down to some 3.73 in the future, some time next year when my swap is going on. Getting rid of the a/c help a little though. Made it alot easier to work in the engine bay. I never used mine either, so just got rid of it.

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

I didn't swap the gears in there, i swap a whole rear in there from caliper to caliper. I need a new rear from the wipe out i had that day when it's wasm raining. The passenger side axle was complete bent, and explained why the cars vibrated really bad at 50mph and above. The 4.11 might keep, just gotta find out how much a traction issues i'm gonna have when i done with future swap. There where no issues with the 305, maybe not enough power, or tranny was on it way out.

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

The carrier and gears may have been damaged with the axle, have them checked out.

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

Sorry, i mixed things up i guess. I got rid of the whole entire original rear end that came with the car, it was a pos. When you turn the axle arm with the lugs nut bolts manually by hand, you could see that the arm was warped. So got an entire 4th gen rearend, tire to tire, and everything was fine. Posi over the one wheel wonder is the best.

Re: This weekend's work / A/C delete?

97, i wonder if the ac setup is simliar to that of a 3rd gen. The a/c compressor is really heavy, not what i expected it to be.
