1996 to 2001 Century's, Any Chronic Problems /

Hello, I am new to this forum.
I am considering replacing my failing 1985 Monte Carlo with a "Century" between the years of 1996 & 2001. (But only with the 3.8 Liter Engine.)
I am overwelmed & confused by the amount of information on problems with these cars. Is there anyone that can tell me which year is the most reliable, and if there is a certain year, are there any Chronic problems that I should be aware of? I know nothing about fixing cars and would greatly appreciate any help that you can give me.

Thank you,
Clyde Howell

Beware of 4T65E Transaxle

Seems that the 4T65E transaxle has major defect. I have a 2000 Century with the problem, harsh shifting. I don't know what other years have the same problem but search the forum and you find several posts complaining about it.
