Hit a pothole and now I hear a noise when I turn sharply
I hit a pothole with my front left tire and I thought I had a flat tire; reason I say that is because I started to hear a 'clunking' or 'knocking' type noise immediately after hitting this pothole.
I pulled over, but no flat tire. I continued driving and would hear this noise, but it appears to only be happening when I make a rather sharp turn. A friend seemed to think it might have something to do with bearings. Anyone have ideas what might be causing this noise? And if so, how much would something like this cost to repair? Is it safe to drive with? |

with out inspecting the car it's hard to say . could be a Sway bar link , or a Strut . I don't know best bet is to take it somewhere and have it looked at if you can't see anything yourself

Re: Hit a pothole and now I hear a noise when I turn sharply
Sounds like you could have blown a CV boot. It's a grease-packed joint that connects the axle to the wheel. One of the signs that this has blown is the characteristic clicking or popping when the wheel is turned.
Definitely take it to your mechanic. You can replace just the boot/joint, but a lot of mechanics will just replace the entire axle. It's about the same amount of cost and labor. |
