Warm engine car wont start!!

Here is he problem. A buddy of mine has an 80 rx-7. He bought the car last year. It had a draw through design turbo on it. Motor has a full build sheet from a place in washington some where. The tubo had a bad seal and leaked oil, so he removed it and went back to n/a setup. The problem we have is the car doesnt like to start after its been running for a while. It will crank and crank and crank but it seems to take forever to start. He thinks one of the manifold gaskets he installed is leaking, i think the carb allows to much fuel to pool up in the rotor housings. We are both lost with what to do with the car. ANy help about how to fix this or wat is causing it would be great.

Re: Warm engine car wont start!!

Sounds to me like the fuel in the carbs is vapourizing before it reaches the combustion chamber.
A leak in an intake gasket would cause a very poor idel.

You may be correct in the assumption that the engine may be getting washed in fuel can causing it hard start problems. The cranking can cause oil pressure to rise and seal the engine.

Well the car seems to idle fine for having been streetported, although an intake gasket leak is something we overlooked. Thanks fdtt.
