Question race car tyres

Iīm working on a F1-2000 at the moment and i was wondering if those inscriptions like "Bridgestone" and "Potenza" are always at the same place on the front and the back of the tyres? Are those letters congruently on front and back or does their position vary?

And by the way, does anybody know were i can find good pics of the real F1-2000? Google doesnīt help a lot.

Re: race car tyres

No the lettering is not necessarily in the same positions front and rear. In the old days, during pitstops the tyres went on however. These days, since they rarely change F1 tyres during the race, maybe the marketing department will take the time to check they align.

Not really sure what you mean by the same place... are you asking if the front and rear tire always have in the same position as if you were looking at a clock? if thats the case, no because if the rear wheels spin even slightly when the car is stopped the front letters could be at 12 o'clock and the rear letters at 6.

Re: race car tyres

Yeah that is another valid point. Locking or spinning a wheel will change the orientation. Even a slight differnence in diameter between front and rear will cause changing sync.

also, since the front wheels steer and the rear dont, the front wheels will travel slightly different distances. try it on your real car pulling into or out of your driveway if you dont believe me. :-)

@Jekill
Thanks a lot for those links! Exactly what i was looking for!
But itīs too bad, the pics at the first page you gave me canīt be enlarged. Itīs not working. Is this your own site?

@all
I already feared, my English would be to bad to describe it.
Of course those letters do not have to be at the same position if you look at the front and rear ones. But i mean the inscriptions on only one tyre. Every tyre has letters on both sides, front and back, right? My question is: Do tyre manufactures apply those letters at the same place at the front and back, or if you like at the left and right side, of ONE tyre?
If i look at the "Bridgestone" inscription and turn the tyre around about 180 degrees (turn, not roll!), do i find "Bridgestone" on the other side at the same place, or may it be somewhere else?

By the way, this is what i have so far :

Itīs the very bad fitting Revell kit.

Hi,

concerning your question about the lettering position I guess on each tyre the lettering has the same position both on left and right sidewall, for two reasons, in my opinion: 1) Visibilty and so, marketing 2) Tires are automatically lettered, no matter if sprayed or glued, by labelling machines.
I'm not 100% sure, I checked my reference but I found nothing, but logically...

Hmmm... I checked once again the presentation photos of the Ferrari F1 over the years. It seems the lettering on the inside sidewall are printed 180° respect the outside.

You were right.

Re: race car tyres

i dont think they put them exactly opposite on the front and back. since they paint them on the formula tires they should be at any location
