Question 2001 SC2 Service Engine Soon Light / Codes

My wifes 2001 SC2 Service Engine Soon light came on on her way home from work today. Any ideas where to start. She stated that it was running fine and that she hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary about the car. Also can someone tell me is there a way to get the error codes on a Saturn by turning the ignition off and on again?

Unfortunately 1996 and newer vehicle with OBDII systems require a code reader. Autozone stores will provide this service free of charge if you have one nearby. Ask her if she purchased gas before the light came on. Could be a loose gas cap. (too easy)
There are several online sites that will decipher codes. Post again if you need a link or two.
