autometer colored lens kit - HELP!

need some quick help here. i just got my shift light and colored lens kit as well. i opened it up and i see where i have to get at to replace the lens. now there is a metal ring with two holes holding the amber lens in there. i cannot think of any tool, or any way to get it off/open to put the blue lens on.

anyone who has done this please help me out.

It's just the shift lite right? On mine, I didn't have any trouble replacing the lens. Hmm.

well how'd you get your amber lens out?

and here are some pics. IMO i think i have to squeeze the two holes together and then it'll come out. like spring loaded - only no spring. ya know??

take a look:

just use a needle nose plier. put the tips of the plier on each hole and squeeze and it should come out.

Exactly, you need to squeeze those two points together with pliers or something. The ring will come out, then you can replace the lens.

i tried using some small pliers. the ring seemed VERY tight, like, it didn't even move.

i gotta find a smaller pair that i acn fit in the holes. is this really how its done? its a serious pain in the ass.

Who said modding was easy?

Wouldn't mind seeing pics once the blue is in, especially at night. Hope it doesnt look to sky blueish

Their is a tool for that kind of thing. I don't know if you want to buy a specific tool just for this. I'm not sure of the name, or its real use, but I believe its for adding and removing C clips and E clips. I'll ask my dad tomorow, he owns one.

yeah its a common automotive tool to remove those types of retainers. i sell them all day long. <work in a automotive tool warehouse>. They dont cost much but most shops should also have them. just looks like a really messed up pair of needle nose plyers. if you cant find one at the shop... just bring your shift light into any autoparts store and be like hey bitch i need the thing to pull this out... and just get the right size.
