clock/radio/cd settings not showing

We've had our Villager about a year and a half and when we first got it you could read the clock/radio/cd lights, but they would fade in and out. Now you can't see them at all,. it's just dark. Does anyone know how to remedy this situation? Or what it would cost to get it fixed? Is this something we can do ourselves? Thanks for any advice!
