exhaust on an std?
I have an std civic 1.5 liter, and all i have on it is an intake, well i was wondering if I put an exhaust on it (2.5in dynomax ultraflow ss with resonator) will it make my car sound deep even though its a crappy motor? or should i not waste my money? I want to do an engine swap but I have ran into a huge financial bind. thanks

Don't waste your money...
I may go back to stock-like muffler and if you want my can muffler I'll take $50 shipped...

well, i didnt really want the can muffler style, i think that this style would look better for a stock car

Re: exhaust on an std?
i ran my dpfi without a muffler at all. i guessing that because hte motor is so weak with not much exhaust, running no mufller for mine made it sound just liek it had an exhaust, not raspy but a nice sound like a good catback.
i never got pulled over for it and i had a cop following me up a hill coming from a racing spot, so you know he was looking for anything to pull me over but he never did |

Re: exhaust on an std?
I run 2.5 from the headers back to a 305 high flow muffler. no cat or resonator. Looks stock except for the larger diameter pipe. no gay chrome tip or anything. You really feel the difference over 5000rpm. pulls harder until redline. Extremely loud though. to be honest i think it is too high pitch but I can't complain about the better power so..

Re: exhaust on an std?
I went with larger piping (2.25) and lost my low/mid RPM torque but, gained some power in the higher RPM's. It wasn't worth it to me due to my driving style so, I re-installed new stock sized 1 3/4 pipe. The car is super quiet and I gained my low/mid RPM torque back.
