I have a 1999 silverado. Tow/haul will engage and disengage at any time. It stays engaged more often then not. Pushing the button will not engage or disengage. It has a mind of it's own. Where exactly do the wires from the column go so I can check for loose wires or plug? Help the gas is costing me a fortune!

Nevermind I found the problem. I took the plastic around column off and wires were broke. they had been fixed once before apparently and the broke right near the same spot. The bare wires were touching column brackets and shorting out once and awhile. As wires moved around it would engage and disengage the switch.
