Two cars, know nothing about modding

i have a 95 mercedes e420, it has a v8 with 275hp and its pretty fast but 95 is kinda old it has 110k miles

i also have a 2001 lexus gs300 with 30k miles, its an inline 6 with 220hp

both cars are stock. I dont know what upgrades to do on either i know nothing about cars but i want them both faster i dont know which one to upgrade cuz i probably wont do both and i dont know what upgrades to do. I know exhaust is good but i dont want my cars louder because i like them quiet and luxury

also, say i get a new car and want to trade one of them in after they have been modded do mods cause any problems for this?

any help is appreciated

yes, because that's a simple mod.[/sarcasm]

IMO you should probably hit the Lexus up with:

Intake
ECU Map

for the quietest power gains.

and then maybe nicely sized sway bars and shocks for handling.

Yes because that will make it noticeably faster [/sarcasm]
Intake will free up airbox restriction and net you about say 3 hp, you will notice a light, if at all, increase in throttle response
'ECU Map' would really be worth it if there was a reason for tuning.

How much cash are you looking to spend?
is the engine in there basically the NA supra engine?
Because really the twin turbo version of that motor would get you 300+ hp and if you somehow kept stock exhaust with it then you would be able to retain somewhat of a quiet car.

also, a quick google search turned this up for you
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/

if you're serious about wanting to mod the cars you have and you know nothing then I suggest you start learning up now.

On a final note, this section of the forums is more meant for posting street racing stories (yes the section title is rather deceiving) so whenever you have questions like this, please make sure you post them on the non-specific section of the racing forums (we all hang around there a lot as well)

good luck

Re: Two cars, know nothing about modding

you know that comes straight out of nfsu2 too.
AIR INTAKE PACKAGE 20+hp!!!!
ECU TUNE!!!! 35+hp!!!!!
Heed our words, since both cars hold a hefty price tag they will be expensive to make faster. Even more so because they are in a luxury class, so go fast parts are likely to be very expensive if not DIY type parts.

Minor modifications will make very little difference. If you could modify exhaust components while keeping a relatively nice sound to it, would you be willing to consider putting money into exhaust related mods?
Eventually, depending on how much power you want it to put out, you will have to deal with the exhaust somehow.

i was saying, get the twin turbo motor from the toyota aristo.

its a 2jz-gte designed for that chassis, will use the same mounts and everything.

only bad thing is it comes in automatic only

also raiden, the GS/aristo has good aftermarket, but it'll be expensive to import parts from japan

Re: Two cars, know nothing about modding

I actually say sell one of them and get something a lil more mainstream. Look for a fox body or something that is easy to get fast.
