Tamiya Carrera GT PE set

Has anybody used any PE sets for the Tamiya Carrera GT, and if so, which ones and do you have any comments about them?

I'm looking to dive into the foray of PE sets, but I don't wanna get a bad set.

I'd almost advise you to save your money. Use it for a PE set for a kit that needs it. This one really doesn't. The only thing I'd consider replacing on this kit is the mesh screens above the air intake boxes, but having seen it built in person, the kit decals applied to the clear cover parts, it looks surprisingly convincing. Otherwise, I doubt anything else on an S27 or similar set will do anything to really enhance this kit. (And if you do decide to attempt the screens, be warned- these are 3 dimensional curves, and PE does not like to be bent that way. Check out my F50 bild to see just how much fun it can be!)

The only additional thing this kit needs are anti-roll bars, and you won't find them on any PE set- at least not decent ones!

Re: Tamiya Carrera GT PE set

Hi I just finished the carrera gt and the PE is good, but it's ,not really necesary. Unless you want to make a really highly detailed model of it.

Re: Tamiya Carrera GT PE set

Scale Motrsport will be releasing a PE set and a templated CF decal set for the Carrera GT next month. It will more than likely be far superior to the Acustion set and cheaper too. I think they are also doing one of their CD ROMs with lots of detail photos.

Ron

Re: Tamiya Carrera GT PE set

We will send out an email to those on our list and try to post here when they are in. Price should be $22.50 each for the PE set and templated CF decal set.

Ron

MPWR is right ! I used the PE Set from Studio 27 and except PE for the brakes and for the air intakes, it's useless. It give to the kit an incredible look but does it worth it ? Moreover, it's really difficult to fit them to the piece. Here are some pictures of the Carrera GT that I built.
