amp installation

i have a 99 intrigue, i just installed an older kenwood cd player, im not sure of the model... but i have a 400 watt jensen XA44200 amp hooked up and when i hook up the power, it just goes into protect! i tried hookin the remote into the amp turn on, antenna, and ignition wires on the head unit, but nothing works.. i even put a jumper wire from the remote to the power connector, but it still doesnt work... what am i doin wrong here!?!?

i guess you are talking about the kenwood head unit? will it let youu adjust any settings? i dont know much about kenwood, i refuse to use them
