94 Prism Starter Problems

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have a 94 Prism that I had to replace the starter 3 years ago and now it needs to be repaired again! Does anyone know if there is a recurring problem with the 94 starters? I am going to try to replace this one myself if it is something an average handygirl can do. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

do you have the 1.8L twin cam engine? If so I can give you some pointers. Yes, I hear the starters are a common fault. I had to replace mine

Re: 94 Prism Starter Problems

I have the 1.6L but as far as I know the starter is pretty standard. I attempted to look at it yesterday and had a little trouble. The 1994 starter according to the repair manual, is located under the air filter housing. I removed the entire housing and I couldn't find my starter! I had purchased one and I could find nothing that looked similar.
