Texas - Front License Plate Law Banned

Hey I've been hearing about the Front License Plate law is being drop sometime in the next month or so... has any one heard about it?
cause I wan't to be sure that it is before I take mine off.

u wont see mine on at the TX gathering!! lol. Heard nothing but I have heard it is being considered.

I heard september but i don't know how reliable the source is. hell it doesn't really matter to me anyway i've never had a front license plate on any of my vehicles. i've only been drivin for about four years but thats still pretty good. lol

I heard Sept. 1st. Yeah I didn't have one for a while until I got pulled over twice in the same week for it...

i'm leaving my front plate off from now on. its just looks much better without it. but i'll have the plate in the car just in case

Dam, i remeber like a coupe of week ago i went out with my crew. (I live in Cali) and we were at this burger place call In and Out and a cop gave us ticket for not having liscense plate in the front!!! wat an azz becuz there use to be hella racer at that place but cop are like there every night now and we just when there to chill, five people got a ticket and 2 didnt, the five were lacner,sti,s2k,del sol,gsr and lucky i didnt but i was still piss, me the 3kgt and rx7 had our plate. The cop only got us becuz we were racer and he didnt even brother to get the other, cuz they were not racer and didnt have a front liscense plate, wat a hater!!! Cops in california are pain in the azz. I ask the cop and he said the law will never ban front liscense plate "it never was and never will" that wat he told me. Not sure if it only for cali but it can be different for other state. Just like to share

2 things

1) You may run into your share of cops that suck, but don't generalize and hate on all of them because they do their jobs. Your friends were doing something technically illegal...be mature about it and take what you deserve.

2) For the love of god, please please please, try using some grammar, punctuation and/or spell check for the rest of us.

As far as the license plates go...it's required in NY, but I never had mine on, and never had any issues with it. Hell, I don't even know where it is...maybe under my bed???

I have to agree with Igovert on the cop issue. I was a cop for 3 years. I hated some of the laws that we had to enforce and if I could I would let people slide on SOME things. While there are cops out there that get a kick out of being an ass, most of them are just doing their job. I must say though that cars do look much better with the front plate off. Anyway most of the time a cop is going to read it is from behind.

First off, the problem with this is, that they where park. You can only get a ticket parked if it is a parking ticket... no front license plate is a Moving Violation! so if your park in parking lot and not on the highway they can't give you a ticket on 2 reasons... one is that its not on the road and are on prviate property and have no Street Jurisdiction in a parking lot... two like I said before its a moving violation... and if they said you had to drive to get there so they knew you where without it then say you just took it off... honestly I would had fought that ticket and you would had won, Because I have done that on many accassions, like hauling ass in a parking lot, got a ticket, I faught it and won because the wal-mart didn't want to press charges and the cop couldn't not give me exibition of exceleration because it wasn't on the road. AND I have done it with front license plate too, that is why I'm telling you all this. Got a ticket for no front license plate in a Chilies parking lot, first I wouldn't take it, cop got pissed and charged me with some other stuff and forced the ticket on me, so I faught it, cop shows up agian... the judge says yes in my favor saying it wasn't his jurisdiction, all charges where droped. A cop can not give you a Street violation ticket in a parking lot unless the owners press charges.

In court though the police officer just has to point out that the cars got there somehow...they were driven.
We no longer are required to have front plates here. Years ago I got pulled over for not have one on my RX7...had it visible on the dash...made no difference.

But....rules are rules.

im in tx. from what ive heard is if that your front bumper doesnt come with a place for the license plate from the factory it is not required

92VR4Red is right... They can SAY that you had to get there somehow but on our cars the bracket is bolted on and they can't prove you didn't take it off in the parking lot nor can they search your car.

Also it's better not to fight the cop on the ticket when he is issuing it because there are dozens of minor offenses that they can charge you with which are difficult to fight since it's their word against yours (at best you still get a slap on the wrist).
