98 with very strange problem

I searched the forums and found numerous "no start" threads, but none with the same specifics as my problem. If this has been asked and I somehow overlooked it, I apologize profusly.

I have a 1998 2.2 4cyl 5 speed S-10 truck. A week or so ago, I stalled it out at a stop light (foot slipped off the clutch, stalled on my accord, not the trucks) I went to start it and there was nothing. Didn't roll over, didn't even click like a dead battery usually does. All of my accesories worked. I pushed it to the side of the road and when i was planning on towing it a few days later, I tried to start it one more time, and it started right up with no problem. Ran perfect for the next few days, stopped for gas, went to start it and again, nothing. Waited about 10 minutes and it started right up.

Pushing my luck I still hadn't taken it in to get fixed, and last night stopped at a 7-11 and it would not start. Tried the "wait 10 minutes game" and it didn't work, tried it after work this morning and still nothing.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea before I take it in, I know little to nothing about cars, and don't want to end up paying to fix things I don't need to fix. THanks so much, and again sorry if this has been asked before.
Emily

I would try cleaning the connections at the battery, first. It is possible that one is loose or corroded, which would cause your intermitted no start condition. There are several other possible causes, but this one would be the most likely and the easiest to remedy.

Another thing to check would be the clutch start switch (the switch that prevents the starter from engaging without the clutch being pressed). It may have been damaged when the clutch slammed in to it.

Hope it aint 2 late

I had the same problem with my 98 s-10 4 cyl automatic, intermitent the truck wouldn't start when hot and had to let it sit for periods of time longer and longer each time. It was the ignition module, what the ignition coils mount to, you can get at it through the passenger wheel well. Set you back about $180 plus tax at an advance auto store.

One other thing to try before you invest in any parts is to tap on the starter with a small hammer or wrench. When the brushes become worn on the starter it can give you intermittant starts.
