1996 Drivers side rear vent window problem

My rear vent window on the drivers side sometimes doesn't move at all, (open or close) sometimes it will move a little either way but usually it doesn't open or close all the way before the motor seems to "die", for lack of a better term. If I wait a few minutes the motor will move a little bit more and then dies again. I disconnected the window and the motor seemed to work better and longer. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Bad window motor maybe? The passenger side works fine...

Same Problem

Having the same problems with both of mine. The only thing I haven't ruled out is the operating switch itself.
Also having trouble with passenger power window.Works fine from driver control,so it has to be the passenger switch control.
Just a thought!

So you think there might be a short or something else wrong with the switch itself causing it to fail after a second or so of use?

Ruggrat,
My switch was intermittent in operation then it would quit completely
making it very hard to get the window closed. It's possible the switch contacts are dirty or bad.I intended to try a contact cleaner on the switch ,if I can get it out.Don't have a schematic of the wiring but there could be a relay that the switch operates. If so that would be another trouble spot to check.
I hate to say this but my wife uses the Van now and she hasen't complained about it.(Believe it or not)The front pass. window I will check as soon as it stops raining long enough to do anything.
First week of holidays so I expect lots of rain!
Will let you know if I have any luck.
A really great product for switches is "De-Oxit" I use at work on electrical
contacts and switches. Spray!
