96 Dodge Avenger when the front end is jacked up, either side, transmission fluid leaks out, seems like it is coming from up top on the transmission. Has also started to throw out a little transmission fluid while driving.

Re: 96 Dodge Avenger Transmission trouble
sounds like you are seriously overfilled if it's spitting it out while driving.

I just bought my friend's '96 ES. It's also leaking from somewhere towards the top of the transmission, and it is definitely not overfilled. I cleaned everything under the car while in the garage, then cranked it up and put it in each gear for a little while, then checked for the drip, but I couldn't find one. However, going down the road it's putting out enough to coat the underside of the car (nice smoke effect on the exhaust). It's not leaking from the axles or the pan, which is what I was hoping for. How hard is it to pull the transmission to swap out the gasket?
Let me know if you find the problem on yours. |
