95.5 rodeo which engine?

my 95.5 rodeo is definately going to need a replacement engine(3.2).do i get one for a 95 or a 96?i've read there is a difference...

There is a difference. The 96/97 3.2 sohc's have 15 more hp due to slight modifications. They also use OBDII as well as Coil-on-plug design.
The easiest way to tell is look at the spark plugs. If yours is a 92-95 3.2, there will be three coils and larger wires going to all six plugs. If it's a 96/97, the coils will be directly on top of the valve covers, right above the spark plugs (meaning there will be 6 of them).

Why the catastrophic engine failure? The 3.2 is usually good for 200k miles plus if you don't run out of oil.

i had a previous thread on the issue http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=478888

....i'm still not completely sure if the engine is shot,i haven't taken the heads off yet.
