Loud Ticking throughout entire rpm range - 97 3.2L

recently my trooper has been making a loud ticking noise that increases and decreases with the rpms. it happens for the first few seconds when i start it up and then stops, but it starts again sometimes after i start driving. even flooring it doesnt stop it. in the warmer months it can go on all day long, but lately since its been getting a little colder, it stops after the engine warms up a bit. when it stops is always when i am braking with no foot on the gas. have any of you had any similar experiences with this?
1997 3.2L SOHC
thanks!

Try this..

the 3.2L Sohc's are notorious for sticking lifters. Change oil with Mobil 1...yes...Mobil 1 0W-30...yes...0w-30. This oil will clean out the sludge.
