hooking up system
I need help my boyfriend doesnt seem to think i can do this and i want to be able to show him that i can. you see i need help hooking up my stereo system I have a pioneer single cd player in my blazer i have speakers in the dash, kick panels two doors in the front and speakers in the two rear doors and a amp in the back area any help will be apreciated thank sooooooooooo much

Honestly, this is not something we can teach you over the internet, you can online learn from hands on experience and a knowledge of electronics.
You do know you have to replace the door speakers when you replace the cd player or it won't sound great al all seeing the cd player is geared for 4 ohm speakers and the stock speakers are 6 ohm I think. Result, you won't get a as much sound from your speakers.

nm, i saw youve got a 95. unfortunetly they are a pain in the butt. to get the radio gotta remove the whole dash from climate over. AND BE CAREFULL of your hazard switch, its very expensive to fix. its a pain to get that dash in and out.dash speakers are easy as can be, and doors are simple, a few screws and panel pops.

you need to change the speakers.My dad did not listen when he put the 70x4 in his 01 in June and now the back one is blown

If you really wanna outsmart your boyfriend or show him that YOU CAN DO IT, there's a lot of details and tricks to installing an amp. It's quite simple actually after doing it once of twice though. Don't let me discourage you though, I hope that I can encourage you to learn how to install an amp. Like LT said though, it would be a lot better if you got some kind of detailed instructions or got a local stereo shop to let you in on some details. Unfortunately, it is hard to find a shop that'll do that. Most shops will just say "Oh we can install it for you!" Then they'll try to get your business by saying "We won't charge you labor!" But really, they'll be selling you a Capacitater (Cap.) and installing it on a low power amp that doesn't even need it. Sorry, got carried away there. But hey, there you go. Outsmart your b/f with that info. I can give a description of how to install an amp, but I don't think it'll get you goin'. Just post a "yes" or something if you want a description.

I'll get some pics when I find my cam, but here is the jist of it... 1) Unhook neg cable from battery 2) Pop the front panel off covering the radio,cluster.. it just pops right off (not too technical, please feel free to add info here) 3) Unscrew the two bolts holding in the instrument cluster cover, and two under the dash holdign it down there. 4) Drop your blazer into 1st, and push your hazzard switch down (you'll have to turn your key and press the brake real hard , and drop the tilt all the way down. (you might have to really lean on your brakes to do a little shimmy) 5) Carefully and gently pull the cluster out, it will come out with a bit of play, remove the 4x4 switch and any other conenctors you feel you would like to remove (I left everything attached, except for the 4x4 switch, changed my bulbs too...) 6) Now you have access to your radio, undo the four bolts holoding it in two top and two bottom (you may want to remove the climate control too, gives you soem room to move cables around once you've installed your radio) 7) remove your radio, install new one with proper dash insert, ect, then just reverse this processs. It took me about 1hr to do it properly, I also had to take a hack saw to enlarge the dash area for the radio, the aftermarket system was a few inches longer, and it made for a perfect area for the cables to lay out of the way. Phew... I'll get pics for this weekend. Xpc... truck still running... better catch it... |

I replaced the shitty factory with a JVC mp3/wma deck installed an amp and a 15 inch Cerwin Vega w/box. Took a little over 5 hrs. 99% of installation time was running power from amp to the battery. Ask me anything and Im sure I can help ya with it. Proving that chicks are capable of doin this stuff too.

It was easy, very easy... so easy that I shook my head at the thought that I would have paid someone $45 do install it (that's canadian dollars) This was the first stereo I installed ever in an suv, my 78 firebird was easier, no cutting, just drop in and done. Chicks do rule! We men just sit back and admire all the rulin chicks with a beer in one hand (or a nice tall glass of rye and cola..mmmmmm) and the remote in the other hee hee...

Has anyone fabbed their own mounting plate? I don't like the way they stick out. Or is it a needed due to depth issues?
