First Bike: Hayabusa

Hey, this is my first bike its a Yoshimura Hayabusa X1. I started it a long time ago and recently started to put it back together. Its all really stating to come together and I actually think I'm going to complete this one. Here some pictures of my progress so far.

Tell me what you think. As you can see, I did some changes from the what the actual bike is supposed to look like. And does anyone know of a way to keep the chrome stickers stuck to the fron struts? I cannot get them to stay at all. I'm thinking of replacing them with some BMF.

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

Sweet progress! Are you going to change the colors over or stick with the red and grey?

Haven't really decided on the colors, yer, but I'm going to make my own scheme.

Looking good so far. I'm kind of liking the black frame.

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

thanks,I really like the black frame as well, now only if I can get a color that compliments it.

btw Dave, what is the bike in your sig pic? It looks similar to my hayabusa I'm working on.

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

Its the Tamiya Busa, not the X-1, but I have been switching parts around from both of the kits. Swing arm was stretched 6 scale inches, forks lowered 2" and a few other things. Turbo, nitrous and other goodies are partially done, but time is never on my side these days, so I had set it aside for awile.

As for the color choice, lots of them would go good with the black frame. I'm kind of partial to yellow/black, but that might be too yamaha

I still haven't figured out what color I'm going to do mine in, like you, too many choices to easily settle on one.

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

sounds cool, got any other pictures? I want to make a drag/street bike. Seeing all the bikes come and go at the shop thats in front of my work makes me want to build some, and the ease of putting them together as well. I just love all the detail thats put into the kits.

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

so you like the color choice??

needs another coat or two after some sanding, since I didnt let the paint hardern enough before touching, but definatly not a bad paint job for a testors spray can.

And heres just some close of pics of my "try to make the chain look decent" and the exhaust with the rear brake cylinder.

I'll have to get some outside pictures tomorrow, because the yellow is definatly bright and yellow, doesnt have an orange tint like the pictures show it to.

That is some very impressive painting and detailing you've done there. Impressive enough to look as if it's a 1/1 in fact

Congratulations!

Re: First Bike: Hayabusa

Looking good on the yellow and black. Should be really sweet when finished.

I'll try to get some pic's up in another thread as I progress.
