When I use my remote starter I have experienced loss of power in my 2002 Rendevous. I figured out that in order to get it to start normally, I must reset a fuse (under the hood, in the book it's number 49) Just pull it out and put it back in.
I brought in to the shop where the remote starter was installed and the owner said that he had seen this a lot in the Rendevous whether it has a remote starter or not. He mentioned that it is the BCM (body control module) which needs to be replaced. Luckily I have an extended warrenty. Though I had to have the remote starter completey removed in order for the warrenty to cover it. But to have it reinstalled will cost me some money. Hopefully the dealer will cover this. I was told that in order for this to be a recall, somewhere around 5000 need to be reported. So if you're having this problem, please make sure it gets reported. Other than that my Rendevous has been great. Though looking through these forums I'm sure there are more problems to come along. That will be trade-in time. |

Hhmm I think maybe I would have more questions about your problem. Here is a link to what the BCM controls (and NOT). Of particular interest is the note on 'no interaction with engine cranking/starting/running' . :
http://www.gmtechlink.com/images/iss...5e.html#story6 I think something more likely is the remote starting causing issues with theft deterrant system, or along those lines. I have heard of others having troubles with remote starting systems on these vehicles. As for recalls, they are for safety reasons, and I don't think this would qualify as a safety thing. |
