Tamiya NSX-R

Did tamiya ever make an nsx-r kit, or was it just the regular nsx? If so, what are the differences? I tried searching for the kit on hlj but didn't have any luck.

Indeed, Tamiya have not released any new version of NSX or NSX Type R. Tamiya only releases the 90's style NSX. IF you like the new version of both NSX or NSX Type R, you have to pick a Fujimi.

Try using the search feature in the HLJ.com, you with find all the models of NSX with ease.

Tamiya made 3 NSX kits as follows:-

24100 Honda NSX
24101 Acura NSX
24126 Honda NSX Type R

the Acura kit is identical to the Honda kit apart from the right hand drive dashboard has been cut off from the sprue and revised decal sheet as the honda kit can do both versions

the Type R version has a few differences - different bodyshell with fog lights removed and engine cover has a large hole and there is a sheet of mesh for the engine cover and and the front intakes where lights used to be, rest of parts same as the Honda

And radio blank-out plate. And round exhaust tips. And little titanium shift knob. And different steering column.

Plus, it's the one molded in white; the easiest color with which to start.

Doesn't the Acura version have both dashes? I thought they all did...

the Acura is for the american market as u wouldnt use the right hand dashboard would u? i beleive the right hand dashboard was cut out from the sprue?

the Honda NSX kit no. 100 had both dashboards and decals for both the Honda and Acura on 1 sheet

Re: Tamiya NSX-R

Well, I know the Honda one has all the parts/decals to make either the Honda or Acura version (or for that matter the "Honda Export version" as mentioned in the instructions.) I've never had my hands on the Acura-boxed version, but I'd always presumed it was set up the same way.

my local model shop had both when they came out originally, and i always open the box to look at instructions and the contents before i buy them(and what colours to use), and as theyre both same apart from dashboard, i bought the Honda version

i cant understand why Tamiya release the Acura version (no 24101) when everythings included in the Honda version

Re: Tamiya NSX-R

to appeal to the American market, since the Honda NSX doesn't exist here... I think

Re: Tamiya NSX-R

I hear Honda's pretty particular about their licensed stuff. A Tamiya employee told me they got some flak from Honda about the S2000 model not having the LHD parts in the first release because you couldn't make a US version...
