Bad gas mileage, any ideas???

Got a 96 accord automatic LX. 157000 miles, i get 21 mpg on average, don't push it at all, have tried everything to try to improve it. Supposed to get 23 24 in city, 32-34 on highway, 70% city driving 30 highway. All types of liquids, fuel injector cleaner
Things i replaced: racing spark plug wires, new sparkplugs, timing belt 20 thou miles ago, cant quite figure it out....let me know

What are the numbers on your last smog test? Tire pressure? S/B 3 lbs over recommended. Brakes dragging for starters.

Re: Bad gas mileage, any ideas???

Have never had a smog test, never really knew they exsisted. Don't really know what it is. I have good driving habits, and i believe fuel filter is the only thing that i haven't changed out

A smog test will tell you a lot about your engine such as unburned hydrocarbons, CO2, NOX etc which could lead you to what is causing low gas mileage. I don't think a fuel filter could cause problems with mileage but an air filter could.

Also check to see if your head gasket is ok. if your head gasket leak or break then it is not good.
