Bad gas mileage, any ideas???
Got a 96 accord automatic LX. 157000 miles, i get 21 mpg on average, don't push it at all, have tried everything to try to improve it. Supposed to get 23 24 in city, 32-34 on highway, 70% city driving 30 highway. All types of liquids, fuel injector cleaner
Things i replaced: racing spark plug wires, new sparkplugs, timing belt 20 thou miles ago, cant quite figure it out....let me know |

Re: Bad gas mileage, any ideas???
What are the numbers on your last smog test? Tire pressure? S/B 3 lbs over recommended. Brakes dragging for starters.

Re: Bad gas mileage, any ideas???
Have never had a smog test, never really knew they exsisted. Don't really know what it is. I have good driving habits, and i believe fuel filter is the only thing that i haven't changed out

Re: Bad gas mileage, any ideas???
A smog test will tell you a lot about your engine such as unburned hydrocarbons, CO2, NOX etc which could lead you to what is causing low gas mileage. I don't think a fuel filter could cause problems with mileage but an air filter could.
