Question Cruise Control Switch

Hello guys

i have a big problem. I am taking a new steering column today as my original one failed or should say really broke while i was driving. meaning that i could no longer signal, shifter arm is gone and hearing some weird noise in the shaft while i turn.

i found a steering column that has no Cruise sontrol on it, but the guy at the junk yard said that i could put one in or remove the one i have and put it in. she has a tilt, Cruise, well fully loaded and i am hoping to have some instruction from you guys to figure out how to remove that switch and how to put it in the new location?

what type of tool is required in order to do such a thing.

thanks

Luv Angel

Re: Cruise Control Switch

Well it's pretty complicated...

You need to pull the turn signal/cruise control stalk out. You have to pull hard though.

Then you clip the wires going to it as close as possible. Now, tape the wires from the new stalk to the old wires. Next find the where the wires come out of the column under the dash. Unplug it and pull the new wires thru, gently.

Re: Re: Cruise Control Switch

Thanks for the tip. the only problem is ... I have my other steering column. the thing is, my other one doesn't have a cruise control switch. so i will have to wigle that darn wire a few time until i can see it from the other side then tape it then connect it then do the Diff then power steering pump then then then ... then rebuild the engine. Poor van over 550,000.00 KM she is a tough one

Re: Cruise Control Switch

You could snake some safety wire down the column and then use that to pull the cruise control wire though.

Re: Cruise Control Switch

Got it installed on both my steering column and switches and it works like a charm. 2 1/2 years driving this van and my lever never came back once i was done turning "signal lever" i mean. Steering is so much better now. drives like a charm.
