Re: extended warranty
Well I bought the extended warranty when I purchased my 2001 Aurora. It is called Easy Care and it is from the Ford company. I'm not sure how good it is yet since I haven't made a claim. There is a deductible of $100 for each repairs and the warranty seems to cover pretty much everything that isn't wear and tear. As you know, a warranty is only good if you use it so I'll let you know when that day comes.

Well, when I got the loan for my 1995 Aurora from a local credit union, I purchased a warranty offered from Intercontinental Warranty for 2years/24K miles at a cost of nearly $1800. They didn't work out too well-turns out the State of Florida has a few problems with them. However, I bought another warranty from Continental Warranty and I can renew up to 170K miles on my Aurora. It has saved me money already on an a/c compressor replacement-close to $500. Their warranties are mainly offered to dealers, and can cost less on renewal.

I have Easycare as well. I had to replace an air vacuum as one being discussed on the board at present and it was not covered. I was pretty upset. It cost me $550 Canadian for the piece and labour. I guess extended warranties are only good if something breaks down and is covered. Logical I guess. Some people never get extended warranties for anything and never have problems, while others like me always seem to be unlucky with breakdowns. That is how life goes. |
