how long?

How long is the break in period on the 2.2 ecotec cobalt?

500 miles or so of stop and go driving with not too much highway. Then do an oil change at 500 or so and you're ready to let it rip.

what happens is you waite till 3,000 to chang you oil on the first one?

Not a whole lot. It's just safer to change a brand new engine for the first time at 500 miles to get out any excess materials from the contruction process.
