first WIP nissan sileighty project
hi all
first WIP post for me here. i have just started a project. i had a fujimi s13 silvia and a 180sx. both cars based on the same s13 chassis so i thought id do the done thing and do a sileighty conversion! this will be build as a usual club racer type thing, not building to any specific design, just using what ever i have lying around! first i made sure it was going to work, both fujimi kits are very similar, sharing alot of parts and only a small difference in the chassis. same wheel base etc made this easier. here are the 2 chassis, i modified the silvia one (left one in pic) as all i had to do was make a template of the 180sx and trim the silvia one. this allows me to use the 180sx sell with the silvia front end on the silvia chassis. |

Re: first WIP nissan sileighty project
next i just added a bit of width to the sides of the floor pan, just so theres no big gap when its built. just replicating the 180sx chassis...
![]() now onto cutting the front ends off! just scraped for a while over the gap between the door and front guard/fender. they are the same car in real life so this should be the same shape on both cars. ![]() all looks good, fits ok. ![]() window fits perfect as well. ![]() the only mod ill have to make is the side skirts and this line, just doesnt match up right which came as a suprise. not sure what ill do here but ill work something out. ive never tried to scibe a new line in styrene, any advise would be good ![]() |

Re: first WIP nissan sileighty project
small update,
cut out rear seat, extended floor pan and boot floor (seeing you see this being a hatch back) i removed the rear interior side panels as well as the seat so just put in some styrene sheet as the metal panels. had to extend to the rear as i also am not using the parcel shelf. replaced rear seat with the same..... i am going to add some type of scratch built rear 'strut brace' as well as a roll cage. thanks for looking ![]() ![]() |

Re: first WIP nissan sileighty project
small update.
made the roll cage from 2mm-2.5mm styrene. i have done away with the strut brace style thing you see in this pic and just joined the two bars with another piece of styrene to make it all a bit neater and also that helped keep the rest of the cage in shape while im still fiddling around. it was also apparent that id have to raise the strut brace in order to fit the shocks as well, so it just wasnt practical. ![]() also in the process of modifying the front bar. it was originally two narrow openings the whole way across the front, ive made a more motorsport inspired air dam with a larger opening for the big intercooler that i will make, and the two side openings are left from the standard bar design. |

Yeah I noticed that they make that but I already had both kits, I wanted to make the 180sx but I didn't like the front bar, that's when I got the idea to do this conversion. Plus I can also make a 'onevia' with the remains |
